The aim of this course is to prepare students to enter the civil construction sector as a pipe laying employee by providing skills development and the basic underpinning knowledge required. Training and job placement will be delivered in partnership with Carey Training, and Zancott Recruitment.
Pipe layers perform the initial groundwork for construction by laying down pipes that provide water or gas distribution, drainage or sewage disposal. Pipe layers must use multiple skills in their work from heavy equipment operation for excavation and levelling, to pipe laying and fitting, to blueprint reading, according to specifications for both the domestic and commercial sectors.
Plus Working with Safety Gear, Hazard ID and Safework Method Statements, Read/Interpret plans, Manual Handling, Workplace Communication, Levelling, Excavation, Base Preparation, Thrust Blocks, Pipe Protection, Grouting and more, followed by work preparation and placement for suitable participants.
Course Admission Requirements / pre-requisites
Applicants are required to have a Driver's Licence and motor vehicle and will be required to undertake drug and alcohol screening. Applicants will be asked to attend an interview and undertake literacy and numeracy assessment through ATEC Training.
Qualification
Students who successfully complete all the requirements of this course will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for accredited units and White Card.
Students who do not complete all the units of competency within this course will receive a Statement of Attainment for those units of competency that have been successfully achieved.
