Our Facilities

Typical theory classroom
All classrooms are equipped with televisions, DVD's, projectors and other standard aids.  The theory is developed using a combination of the traditional stand-up teaching skills coupled with Power Point presentations and training films to emphasise key points.  It is essential that students are engaged at all times, to this end, theory session durations are limited.  Students learn the theory in small portions and then put it into practice in the simulated workplace to consolidate this knowledge and develop highly desirable hands-on skills.

Simulated workplace
The workplace is fully equipped with aids normally found in typical nursing home facilities.  Students activities cover the full range of duties expected of a support worker and to ensure they are trained to the highest standard we have volunteers attend the centre to act as clients.  These volunteers make the workplace as near as authentic as possible.

Computer rooms
Part of the training process incorporates project work and at ATEC we have used this activity to ensure all students have basic computer skills.  They will be instructed on internet use including search engines, email systems, basic word processing etc.  In addition they receive training to develop an excellent work ethic, resume preparation and job search skills.  They have use of these facilities outside normal training hours to increase their knowledge base.
